Hamburg, September 2025 – The Indonesisch-Deutsch Kultur Austausch Foundation (IDKA e.V.) proudly presents Pasar Hamburg 2025, the largest celebration of Indonesian culture and partnerships in the German-speaking region. This special event takes place 19–21 September 2025 at Messehalle A2 Hamburg, introducing a new format combining the Pasar Hamburg Fair (B2B) and the Pasar Hamburg Festival (public).

Day One – Friday, 19 September 2025
Pasar Hamburg Fair (B2B)

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony welcomes distinguished guests, including a keynote address from the Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. The moment becomes even more memorable with an electrifying violin recital by internationally acclaimed Indonesian-born musician Iskandar Widjaja.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoy a buffet of authentic Indonesian cuisine, offering a true taste of the archipelago.

Forum Dialogue: Building the Indonesia–Germany Business Ecosystem

Day Two & Three – Festival Weekend

Two flagship co-creation labs conclude the first day, designed to spark meaningful collaboration between Indonesia and Germany:

1. Designing Meaningful Journeys
In collaboration with Rumah Intaran and Javara Indonesia, this lab explores impactful travel experiences that connect villages, culture, nature, and local communities through sustainable tourism.
2. Innovating Crafts and Creators
Bringing together Indonesian artisans, designers, and creative entrepreneurs with German market experts and retailers to co-create authentic innovations that resonate with German and European consumer preferences.

Throughout the day, the program also features panel discussions, business sessions, and a B2B showcase spotlighting Indonesian SMEs, exporters, and creative brands.

The weekend continues with Pasar Hamburg Festival, the largest Indonesian cultural festival in German-speaking countries, themed “Journey – Celebration – Flavors of Indonesia”. Audiences are invited to enjoy vibrant cultural showcases featuring artists, musicians, and inspiring speakers from Indonesia and Europe.

Traditional Performances

Experience the sounds and movements of Indonesia with Javanese Gamelan Sekar Kenanga (In-house Philharmonie Hamburg), the INA Dance Group presenting dances of the archipelago, Poco-Poco by the Kawanuwa Hamburg community, Joged Bumbung by Balinese dancer Made Suardani, and Gondang Batak Folklore Music with its energetic rhythms that invite everyone to dance.

Musical Collaborations

A cross-cultural stage featuring the Indonesian diaspora band BenBees from Braunschweig, Hamburg Assemble, and a spectacular finale by the Bagus Wirata Band from Bali, delivering the vibrant sounds of keroncong koplo.

Fashion Show – Wastra Nusantara

A festival highlight showcasing batik, tenun, ikat, silk, and cotton infused with contemporary fashion. Presented by young designers from Indonesia and Germany, it reveals how Indonesian textiles transform into modern fashion for the global stage.

Taste the Spice Story – by Helianti Hilman
A culinary journey woven with storytelling, where Indonesian spices evolve into three signature dishes while tracing historic spice routes from Indonesia to Europe. Helianti Hilman of Javara Indonesia shares the legacy of spices that shaped global trade for centuries.
Coffee Brewing – Kopi Tubruk with Gede Kresna
From Rumah Intaran, Bali, Gede Kresna demonstrates the art of brewing Indonesia's authentic strong coffee. Guests enjoy a hands-on experience that reveals both rich flavor and the philosophy of simplicity and togetherness in Indonesian culture.
Live Sambal Making – with Ayu Gayatri
Discover Indonesia's vibrant sambal through a live demonstration by Ayu Gayatri (Rumah Intaran, Bali). Using traditional stone mortars, fresh chili, and spices, the session invites guests to taste, experience, and understand sambal as a symbol of warmth, community, and diversity.
Jamu Session – with Ayu Gayatri
Step into Indonesia's herbal wellness tradition. Ayu Gayatri guides participants through preparing jamu, sharing stories of its philosophy and how each recipe nurtures the balance of body, mind, and soul.

Workshop – Kite Making with Diana Surya & Swantara “Klik”
A creative highlight inviting children and families to experience Indonesia's kite-making tradition firsthand. Guided by Diana Surya and Swantara “Klik” from Archimetriz Bali, participants design, decorate, and assemble colorful kites that symbolize freedom, creativity, and togetherness.
Workshop – The Art of Wearing Traditional Cloth with Adimas Wulandari & PBI Europe
Explore the art of draping wastra Nusantara—from batik and tenun to ikat and silk—which has long represented Indonesia's cultural identity. Guided by experienced practitioners, participants discover traditional and modern styling techniques while learning the philosophy behind each motif.
Traditional Dance for Children – Ina Dance
An interactive workshop introducing children to Indonesian dance through rhythm, expression, and joyful movement. Young participants learn basics from energetic Poco-Poco to graceful Balinese dances, culminating in a mini performance for family and festival guests.
Weaving Heritage – R. Asyfa Fuadi
Presented by Craft Denim Indonesia, this workshop blends traditional Indonesian weaving techniques with denim, creating innovative textiles that inspire conversations on sustainability, local identity, and limitless creativity in fashion.
